Questions

Mat Yoga questions

I have never done yoga. Which class should I start with?

Hatha Yoga. Postures are held long enough to learn them properly, and it is the one class we mark as a beginner class. Gentle Yoga and Yin Yoga are also easy starting points. Our Vinyasa and Power Yoga are marked intermediate, so leave those until you have a few classes behind you.

What is the difference between Vinyasa and Hatha?

Vinyasa flows continuously with the breath and builds heat. Hatha holds postures longer at a slower pace. Hatha is the beginner class of the two. Our Vinyasa is marked intermediate, so it is better once you have a few classes behind you.

I am not flexible, can I still come?

Yes. Instructors give variations for every posture, and flexibility develops with practice rather than being needed first.

Do I need my own mat?

Mats are available at the studio. Bring your own if you prefer.

Which is better for back pain?

That depends on the cause. Tell us what is going on when you book and we will suggest which suits, or whether a private session would be better first.
